New Year, New Goals

A life without goals is...well, take pick of an ending to that one. Somewhere along the way, everyone has goals. Mine aren't work related, I have a job I enjoy, but one that let's me be relatively stress free and a boss who understands my fighting and kettlebell competitions. I'm incredibly thankful I don't work in the corporate world because of that. Could you imagine going to work at Bank of America or Duke Energy with a black eye? Nope. My boss is entirely not surprised at any injuries I acquire these days. Again, pretty lucky.

Some people aspire to be better in their personal lives; stay in touch better (though I fail to see how hard it is with social media?), be more thankful, listen to other better, or what have you. While I am incredibly thankful for everyone around, I'm not the over-the-top type of person with my displays of affection. Just the way I am. Doesn't mean I'm cold hearted, I'm just more reserved than most. I waste-naught.

I instead tend to set goals based on physical ability. I played 2 Varsity sports a sophomore in high school, I even played in sectionals as a freshman on our softball team. I'm competitive, I hate to lose, I love to achieve. I did a lot last year. I fought for a title, competed in 2 kettlebell events, I passed my TBA Apprentice Instructor test, and a lot more. I've grown a lot as a person last year. Gotta keep that ball rolling!

Goals for this year. Starting with kettlebell.
  • February: Kettlebell competition in San Francisco at the Ice Chamber. I'm super excited for this one. A) It's time to get Rank 1. B) I can cut down to my fight weight which allows me to get 8 fewer reps than I had originally planned. C) I've already gotten the required reps for Rank 1 in competition.
  • April: Punch Kettlebell Competition in Sarasota (aka Paradise). My goal here is 100 reps on the 16kg.
  •  May: Vulcan Competition in Charlotte. I'm hoping to get under the 20kg for this one. I'll probably be hoping to get through a certain time than get in "X" amount of reps.
  • July: Wild West Competition in Austin. Still under the 20kg, but hopefully going for reps this time.
  • October: RX Weekend Competition at OUR GYM (how awesome is that?!). After a little break, hoping to get under the 24kg. It's a beast. I've only ever done 3 reps each arm. It KILLED me for like, 3 days. 6 reps apparently equals death. I may not even have the 20kg rank, but I just want to go green on this one. To show our people it can be done. Really to show other women it can be done, and be done by a very small person.
  • November: Georgia Open Competition. Hoping to improve upon the 20kg probably, since I'm doubting I'll make rank in July on the 20kg.
  • Then I'm assuming I'll need a little break!!!
  • For Muay Thai...hmmm...mostly improving upon my teaching skills. I'm hoping to get into some super light timing sparring soon though, so we'll see how that progresses, and then see what happens after that. I'll also be helping a lot of people with their Wai Kru ceremonies as I've somehow become the keeper of them.
  • We're hoping to make it out to Camp this year, but we'll see what happens what happens with competitions this year. We missed it terribly last year, nothing beats the TBA family!
  • We were also invited to Thailand next year. If we go, I'd love to fight in Thailand. More than you could even imagine. I know it'd be entirely different. But entirely awesome.
So, that's what's been set for 2014.
